Mention Cancer Hope Network volunteers, and most people think of our Support Volunteers mentoring cancer patients and their families. Today, we’re in search of another type of volunteer – someone to help us spread the word about the support and care offered through CHN.
More than 1.6 million people will be diagnosed with cancer in 2015. From conferences and support groups to doctors and nurse navigators or support groups, we do our best to let people know that they are a phone call away from talking to a cancer survivor. But we can’t do it alone.
You know your community best – is there a church group looking for a volunteer speaker? Community center bulletin board that could display an informational poster? Doctor’s office where brochures would be helpful? Online support community that should be linked to cancerhopenetwork.org? You know them all – and we need your help reaching out to them.
Please consider sharing hope by doing one (or more!) of the following:
- Write a blog – Whether you’re reading a story or finding a recipe the Hope is Here blog is a great place to hear from Cancer Hope Network volunteers and others. Share your story. Highlight a friend who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Discuss important issues in oncology. https://www.pinterest.com/hopenet/
- Distribute literature – Deliver information packets or brochures to your oncologist’s office. Reach out to your local hospital. Have us included in your support group’s next newsletter. We are happy to provide you with materials to share – or to connect with people and groups you recommend.
- Share us socially – Join Cancer Hope Network on social media.
