It’s National Intern Day! As part of our celebration, we’re delighted to share this Staff Spotlight written by our very own intern – Fatima Sajjad, Fatima is studying Public Health at Montclair State University. We have appreciated her kindness, her energy, her good humor and most of all, her commitment to improving life for patients.

Wanda DiakWanda Diak – Executive Director

In agreement with all of CHN’s team members, we can vouch that Wanda is the engine of Cancer Hope Network. Before joining CHN in 1997, Wanda had nearly 30 years experience in telecommunications – working in human resources, software/hardware engineering, and access management–beginning this journey while still in high school! As an ovarian cancer herself, Wanda’s connection and dedication with CHN is especially deep. She wishes to “Give back and ease the diagnosis and treatment process for those with similar experiences.” Her biggest hope for CHN is to see the organization become more well-known and grow its client base. Eventually, she aspires to see CHN qualify for programs/infrastructures within hospital systems across the country, making the organizations and its purpose more accessible/visible.

Sarah Miretti CassidySarah Miretti Cassidy – Marketing & Patient Outreach Director

Say hello to our  Director of Marketing and Patient Outreach Sarah (with an H!) Cassidy! Sarah, in short, is the voice behind Cancer Hope Network. She has widespread knowledge and background in marketing and fundraising for non-profits. Sarah works diligently in ensuring the image of Cancer Hope Network is up to date. She does so by running CHN’s social media accounts and our E-HOPE blog, in which she tells the stories of CHN’s support volunteers and clients! Sarah is a proud aunt of 12 and loves visiting her hometown in Indiana.

Rachel DiQuattroRachel DiQuattro

Meet our newest addition to our CHN team! Rachel recently joined our Patient Services team and could not be a more perfect fit. She graduated East Stroudsburg University with a degree in Sociology and worked as a DJ. She’s been the owner of an interior design business for five years and raises 3 beautiful boys. Rachel searched for a way back into social work and found herself here: at Cancer Hope Network! She’s very excited to help facilitate and work with our cancer support volunteers and to be a team member of CHN- which in her words is “special because the organization and its cause is intangible but tangible in its own way.”

Randibeth GallantRandibeth Gallant – Special Events & Office Manager

Randibeth Gallant is our Special Events manager. She’s recently added responsibilities as Office Manager, and she does exactly that: manages the details and coordinates the strings at Cancer Hope Network, from ensuring the office runs smoothly to coordinating our fundraising special events. She has experience in graphic design and printing. A well-known DJ and producer in North Jersey, Randibeth has met some amazing Grammy award winning artists.  In her own words she “admires the staff and volunteer at CHN and their genuine desire to help cancer patients with such compassion and dedication so that our clients don’t feel alone.” She’s known for her extensive background in music as a radio DJ and producer and for her event-management expertise, but here at CHN, we also know Randibeth can sure cook up a tasty spinach-artichoke dip!

Kim Hawkins PaineKim Hawkins Paine – Development Director

Who brings in the money? Kim does! With the help and hard work of all of CHN’s staff, Kim works the magic in soliciting donations from funders. Kim started with CHN over 12 years ago as a Cancer Support Volunteer and a few years later became CHN’s first grant writer. Kim is a Rutgers graduate and, as of earlier this year, is a graduate of the Rutgers Master Gardener Program. Kim loves the CHN staff and is especially hopeful thanks to exciting initiatives and “new energy’ offered by the newest staff members.

Cynthia Gutierrez BernsteinCynthia Gutierrez Bernstein – Programs Director

Cynthia is a friendly face at CHN who describes her job as the “perfect fit” for herself. Cynthia  started as a Patient Services Coordinator with CHN at the young age of 22. Since then, she’s worked her way up to become the Director.

Cynthia earned her MSW from Rutgers University and is a member of the Phi Alpha Social Work Honors Society. In addition to her passion to assist and provide as a social worker, Cynthia’s father being a cancer survivor also contributes to her commitment and dedication with CHN. Cynthia believes CHN’s mission to connect patients with survivors to ease their journeys is very inspiring and claims through experience that “The small act of communication and guidance can really shed light in ones journey battling cancer.”

Erin SnyderErin Snyder – Senior Programs Coordinator

Call Cancer Hope Network and there’s a good chance Erin will be the friendly voice you hear on the telephone. Prior to working with CHN, Erin worked as a response team member with the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Crisis Center. She is a Montclair State graduate, with a lot of experience in family services and child advocacy. Upon her experience, she can vouch for CHN claiming “the stellar relationship between volunteer and patients is not typically seen”. Aside from looking after an amusing 8 year old, Erin loves to go hiking and practice yoga.

Gina SiderisGina Sideris – Senior Director of Development

Gina is CHN’s Senior Director of Development and works hard in designing and implementing all of CHN’s fundraising activities. Not only does Gina offer her time and knowledge working with CHN, she also teaches classes at County College of Morris. Gina was attracted to Cancer Hope Network because of a past cancer scare which brought her to CHN’s doorstep looking for a way to help and give back in any way possible.
