By providing free one-on-one confidential peer support to all people impacted by cancer, Cancer Hope Network sows seeds of hope and humanizes the cancer experience. Our trained survivor Support Volunteers make a positive difference in the lives of our clients by sharing practical information, helpful hints, and methods that helped them cope with their own diagnosis and treatment.

eHOPE GardenOfHope (1)Our Support Volunteers are cancer survivors and caregivers who are trained by Cancer Hope Network to create an atmosphere of safety and acceptance, actively listen to client concerns, share their experiences surrounding cancer, and ensure that each client contact is supportive and hopeful.  Our program is available to all adults diagnosed with cancer – any cancer, any stage – and also includes a focus on clinical trial participation when appropriate through our TACT program.

match me cubeLast year, thanks to the commitment of our incredible volunteers, as well as the generous support of our donors, Cancer Hope Network was able to facilitate 2,052 connections between our clients and Support Volunteers– the second highest number of connections in our 39-year history. We also linked almost 250 other clients with resources to help them on their journey through referrals provided by our programs team.

Even so, there is still much work to do, and Cancer Hope Network needs your help. In 2018, there were approximately 1.7 million new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States and 15.5 million Americans with a history of cancer. Nationwide, men and women have a 40% or greater lifetime risk of developing cancer (American Cancer Society). These statistics are staggering. But, so is the potential to spread hope.

For nearly 40 years, CHN has built on the simple, yet profound concept that through connection with someone who has been there, cancer patients and their loved ones can navigate their experience with a greater sense of well-being and hope. It’s what made us innovators when we were founded in 1981, and it’s what makes us more relevant than ever today.

In honor of those battling cancer, in gratitude for our volunteers, in memory of those we’ve lost, and to help raise awareness of Cancer Hope Network’s important mission, we thank you for your support!
