2019 has been a busy year. Our small-but-mighty staff, with help from our incredible volunteers, has been out and about to ensure that patients and caregivers across the nation have access to the hope a match can provide.
We’ve visited nearly a dozen states and met social workers and navigators at local and national meetings – from the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators’ annual meeting in Tennessee to the Association of Oncology Social Worker in Arizona. We’ve taken part in NCCN’s Annual Conference and were proud to join them in DC for their Patient Advocacy Summit. We took part in the first-ever Global Virtual Cancer Conference hosted by GRYT and were delighted to again be part of the N.E.D. concert. (Learn more about the incredible surgeons who make up this cancer-fighting rock band HERE.)
We’ve taken part in Combined Federal Campaign events from Manhattan to the Bronx to Philadelphia and Washington DC. We’ve hosted Hope Check events in person and online and were proud to celebrate the important work Dr. Shalom Kalnicki is doing at Montefiore Health System at the 65th Annual Spirit of Achievement Luncheon in New York City.
We’re grateful to several local organizations who worked to raise money and awareness for CHN – from Denville’s Pink Witchescommunity to our friends at ZinBurger in Morris Plains. Thanks are also due the Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre who hosted a performance to benefit CHN – complete with a talkback featuring CHN volunteers – and to the members of the Historic Chester Business Association who support us in so many ways. We hosted Paint for a Cause events in both Chester and Mount Olive and helped our friends at Legwork for Lungs as they worked to set a world record with their hopscotch fundraiser.
Our Ambassadors of Hope played a key role in this year’s outreach – representing CHN at conferences and taking part or speaking at community events across the country – from the East Coast to Kentucky. Local volunteers helped plan our annual Chrysalis Gala and other events throughout the year.
Thank you to everyone who supported CHN in 2019. We look forward to seeing what 2020 has in store!
